Welcome to our Making Money with Ebook Ecourse- Lesson 2 With the ecourse, we will be attempting to help you learn how to buy, write, sell ebooks and make additional income doing it. At anytime during this ecourse, please let us know if you have any questions. Lesson 2 will cover how to buy ebooks and how to get them on your site. When you are looking for ebooks, you want to buy ebooks with helpful and useful information. Try to stay away form the hype and the ebooks that are nothing more than giant ads for the author's products/services. If the site where you are buying the ebook does not give a good description of what is actually in the ebook, email the owner and ask them for a better description. If they do not respond or refuse to comply, go elsewhere for your ebooks. You will want to buy from a site that will be there if you have questions or problems. You can either purchase ebooks with or without resell rights. I would recommend buying ebooks with resell rights so your customers have an additional reason to purchase from you. They can then sell the ebooks themselves! You can also purchase ebooks with Private Label Rights. There are usually little or no restrictions with Private Label Rights meaning you can add your name and busines info to the ebook. You can also probalby break the ebook down into articles and submit them as your articles. There are different levels of rights which means some have more restrictions than others. There will usually bea License with the ebook which should list any restrictions. Once you purchase the ebooks, you will either be redirected to a page for downloading or you will receive an email with the download links. Download all the ebooks to your computer. I recommend opening a folder on your desktop and saving all the ebooks on your desktop until they are put on your site or in your store. This makes them handy and easily available. Once you get the ebook downloaded to your desktop or wherever, be sure and unzip it and check it over. Most of the times the ebooks will be zipped for faster download. You will need a file compression program installed on your computer to unzip the zipped files. We offer one called jZip for free. Click here to download jZip. To zip or unzip a zipped file, just right click and then click Open with jZip (to unzip) and click jZip to zip it back up. Most ebooks are in pdf format so they are readable on all computers. In order to read a pdf file, though, you will need the Adobe Reader program installed on your computer. This is also available for free at AdobeReader.com Pdf files are generally preferred over exe so try to stick with pdf ebooks as much as possible. Now to get the ebooks on your site, you will need to upload them to your host. This is done with your ftp or right in your control panel. After you have checked out the ebook, and zipped it back into a zip file, you want to give the ebook a coded name of sorts so people cannot guess the name of the ebook file and download it for free. For example: if you have an ebook called Ezine Publishing and you call the file ezinepublishing.zip, this could make it very easy for someone to "guess" the download link by the name and download the ebook for free. You want to code the names- for example: instead of ezine publishing, you might name the file ez-pub-32c.zip These coded names are nearly impossible for people to guess so they are unable to steal the ebook. Be sure and keep track of your ebook file names. Now, in your control panel or ftp, you would want to make a folder/directory called ebooks or name it something else if you prefer. This is where you will upload all your ebooks (unless you purchase a digital store script, then you will need to upload them to the folder the script tells you to). That wil lbe covered more in the next lesson. Ok, to upload your ebooks from your control panel (the area where you manage your site) you first need to go into your cpanel via your host. Then you will go to your File Manager section. Just follow the basic instructions on how to upload the ebooks to your site. It is basically just finding the file on your computer and then clicking Save. All hosts are different so be sure and look things over before starting to upload. So, now you have your ebooks uploaded to your site and have the download links to send to your customers when they buy the ebooks. If you named and ebook zip file ez-pub-32c.zip and then uploaded it to your ebook folder, the complete download link will be http://yoursitenamehere.com/ebooks/ez-pub-32c.zip When forming a link, you always use your base site, then add any folders/directories that apply (ebooks is your directory) and then at the end you put the file name that you want to download. In this case, the file name is ez-pub-32c.zip Now, that you have purchased the ebooks and uploaded them to your site, you are ready to begin selling!
